Professor Sunit C. Singhi is a paediatrician of International repute. He was the head of Advance Pediatric Centre, PGIMER Chandigarh for over 33 years, chairmen ,paediatrics at Medanta-The Medicity for 5 years, Principal and Head of Department MM Institute of Medical Sciences, Ambala. He established India’s first Paediatric Intensive Care unit and firstpost-doctoral DM courses in Pediatric Critical care. He was a visiting professor at the Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Astrid Lindgren Children’s Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden.
Ranked among World’s top 2% medical scientists by Stanford University, Dr Singhi’s research covered fluid-electrolytes, neurocritical care and treatment of acute asthma and childhood pneumonia. His work contributed to better understanding of fluid-electrolyte balance and body-water homeostasis newborns, bacterial meningitis, bronchiolitis, pneumonia, and septic shock, and influenced clinical practice and guidelines. He elucidated the association between transplacental fluid overload and neonatal jaundice and transient tachypnea of newborn. He received research grants from Indian council of Medical Research, WHO, CCMRC, INCLEN and Sweden and has authored 440 peer-reviewed publications, 79 textbook chapters and 11 books. He served as an Associate Editor of PCCM and is a section editor of Rogers’ Textbook of Pediatric Intensive Care.
